Updated: Jan 8, 2023

Boston Celtics vs Oklahoma City Thunder

The Celtics take on the Thunder in Oklahoma City at 8:00 pm EST. The matchup features two stars in Jason Tatum and the Celtics and the Shai-less Thunder. OKC star is out tonight with an illness, giving Boston a much larger chance to take the win tonight. Tatum comes in tonight averaging 30.9 ppg, 8.1 RPG, and 4.1 APG. The Celtics have cooled off since the beginning of the season as they are 5-5 in their last 10 games. On the other hand, the Thunder are 4-6 in their last 10 games and are coming off a two-game losing streak. The Celtics rank 1st in points per game this season and 13th in points allowed while the Thunder rank 11th in points per game and 25th for points allowed. The Celtics have the better record, offense, and defense in this matchup which leads us to pick the Celtics to win tonight.

Washington Wizards vs Milwaukee Bucks

The Wizards take on the Bucks in Milwaukee at 8:00 pm EST. This matchup features a Bucks team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and a Wizards team led by Kristaps Porziņģis, Kyle Kuzma, and Bradley Beal. With Khris Middleton ruled out and Bradley Beal’s status in the air, this matchup could go either way. The Bucks lost to the Wizards 118 - 95 in their matchup on January 1st, but the Bucks get Giannis and Jrue Holiday back for this game. The Bucks rank 19th in offensive points per game and 6th in points allowed while the Wizards rank 22nd in offensive points per game and 14th in points allowed. Despite the Wizards being on a 5-game win streak, we are picking the Bucks to win tonight due to their home-court advantage and key players returning.

Sacramento Kings vs Utah Jazz

The Kings take on the Jazz in Utah at 9 pm EST. This matchup features a Kings team led by Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox and a Jazz team led by Lauri Markkanen. Both of these teams are some of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season, with both teams expected to tank for Victor Wembanyama in this NBA Draft. Utah started off as one of the hottest teams in the league, being the first team to reach ten wins in the season. Things in Salt Lake are starting to slow down, currently in the midst of a six-game losing streak. However, Sacramento has only improved as time has passed in the season, sitting at 19-16 as the fifth seed in the west. With Sacramento’s third option in Kevin Huerter being questionable tonight, we are picking the Jazz to take advantage of this, taking the win on the night.
