Las Vegas Raiders Bench Derek Carr after 9 Year Career

Updated: Jan 8, 2023

Quarterback Derek Carr may have seen the end of his Raiders Career after being benched for Jarrett Stidham on Wednesday afternoon. Carr has had a very disappointing season after adding one of the league's top wide receivers in Davantae Adams. Carr is averaging 232 passing yards per game this season, down from 282 last season without Adams downfield to pass to. The Raiders had very high expectations this season, with lots of talk about making a solid playoff run. However, they are sitting at 6-9 and have been one of the most disappointing teams besides the Broncos, another team in the AFC West.

There are many teams right now that would love to have a quarterback like Derek Carr despite this season. One of these is the New York Jets, who have decided that their former number 2 overall pick Zach Wilson isn't suitable to be their starter at QB. The Dolphins may also need to find a new quarterback this offseason if they decide to part ways with Tua Tagovailoa amid concussion concerns. Other teams that could use his talents include the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Of course, there is also a lot of attention on Davantae Adams at this moment, for he primarily decided to part ways with the Packers to play with his friend, Derek Carr. Adams recently said in an Instagram post that the QB "gave everything he had", and he is the reason he went to Vegas. Now with Carr possibly not in the picture, there is no true way to know what Adams will do in the coming seasons and if he will stay in Vegas without Carr in the backfield.
